DraftKings launches operations in Australia
Australia has become the eighth country where DraftKings launches its daily fantasy sports operations.
Australia.- Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator DraftKings has announced the launch of its platform in Australia. The company had first revealed its plans to expand outside North America and Europe in April.
After obtaining a licence from the Australian Northern Territory Racing Commission, the company is now operating live in eight countries. Local players can compete against other customers in the territory, as well as others where the company is active.
“DraftKings’ DFS product takes sports fans’ game experience to another level, keeping them more engaged with their favourite athletes, teams and codes. Australia is home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the world and that’s a key reason why DraftKings decided to open there,” said Jeffrey Haas, chief international officer at DraftKings.
“We’re confident Australians will enjoy the exciting and innovative competition formats we have available across ten international sports, and their ability to compete against other people, both local and international.”
