Detroit Tigers to partner with a sportsbook
The Detroit Tigers have become the first MLB team to partner with a sportsbook after signing an agreement with Australian company PointsBet.
US.- The Detroit Tigers have become the first Major League Baseball team to seal a partnership with a sportsbook after signing an agreement Australia-based operator PointsBet.
As part of the deal, the sporstbook will place television broadcast-visible branding at the team’s ballpark, Comerica Park. The brand feature on the Detroit Tigers Radio Network and on the Tigers’ digital platforms.
According to a press release, the deal is intended “to enhance fan engagement and game-day excitement by providing access to unique experiences, content, promotions and more, in and around Comerica Park.”
Chris Granger, group president for Tigers’ parent company Ilitch Holdings, said in a statement: “Our incredible fans will love the unique experiences and innovative offerings that PointsBet’s personalized platform provides. We look forward to the fan-friendly enhancements this will bring to the game-day experience in and around Comerica Park for years to come.”
PointsBet USA chief executive Johnny Aitken, said: “The PointsBet team is excited to announce our groundbreaking deal with the Detroit Tigers and Major League Baseball, becoming the first legal sports betting operator in US history to partner with an MLB franchise.”
Earlier this year, PointsBet signed sports betting partnerships with the National Basketball Association and LaLiga North America.
