Court approves Small Town Lottery expansion

The Supreme Court of the Philippines approved the PCSO attempts at expanding the Small Town Lottery.

Philippines.- General Manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Alexander Balutan, confirmed that the Supreme Court dismissed a petition Taal Balisong Gaming Corp. (TBGC) to stop the expansion of Small Town Lottery operations.

Taal Balisong Gaming Corp. is a gaming corporation from the Batangas province that questioned the legality of the lottery operating in the Asian country, therefore they filed a case against the PCSO under the claims that the board violated the petitioner’s right to equal protection of the law, and manipulated the competition in the lottery market after the allowance to let Batangas Enhanced Technology Systems Inc. operate in the province, as Manila Times reported.

The ruling established the legality of both Section 44, which was questioned by TBGC, and the expansion of the Small Town Lottery. Balutan said that they will keep expanding the game in the Philippines in order to help the government raise more money to help fund social measures.
