Council approves Gateway’s casino location

The Canadian council approved the location for Gateway Casinos’ facility, scheduled to open in mid-2019.

Canada.- The Chatham-Kent Council officially approved the location for Gateway Casinos’ Cascades Casino on Monday. The casino that is scheduled to open in mid-2019 will bring slot machine gaming to the city.

The council meeting unanimously approved the application for site plan control for Gateway’s proposed facility. According to the company’s CEO, Tony Santo, construction is likely to start in the upcoming months. The proposed Cascades Casino is expected to feature over 300 slots and 10 table games.

Mayor Randy Hope said that the approval is a major step for the project: “It’s about us getting the site plan approval, getting the Government of Ontario to give the final sanction and then they can get in the ground. If we’re lucky, within ten months we’ll be welcoming a new casino with 200 jobs, plus the spin-off jobs, plus the new revenues coming into the municipality.”
