Closed casinos in Las Vegas to reopen
The two facilities that are currently closed are set to open temporarily only to preserve their licenses.
US.- Las Vegas Club and the Mermaids casino will open for just a day in Las Vegas later this month. As Las Vegas Review Journal revealed, the casinos need to reopen temporarily to keep their licenses.
The Gaming Control Board of Las Vegas recommended yesterday the approval of a plan designed to keep the gaming license of both buildings. The Las Vegas City Council is set to review the plan on June, and the Nevada Gaming Commission would approve it by June 22. As stipulated by the local regulations, a gambling facility must be open at least eight hours every two years in order to keep the license.
“When we purchased the Las Vegas Club in August (2015), we knew then we wanted to look at a larger footprint. Now that we’ve done this transaction, it completely changes the scope of what the project could become. I’m going to need a little time with my team to start thinking through what this project will look like,” said Derek Stevens, one of the buyers of the facilities, back when he purchased the casinos.
