City of Dreams to increase security
After a shooting in another Philippine casino, CoD Manila said that it will increase security.
Philippines.- Lawrence Ho, CEO of Melco Resorts, announced that the company will increase security at the City of Dreams Manila facility after a shooting attack in Resorts World Manila. The incident was in charge of a problem gambler.
“With an incident like this, especially at Resorts World Manila, we certainly would ratchet that (security) up even more…certainly an issue we will buckle down on. We get news about what happens around the region. Occasionally, there are instability within geopolitics in the Philippines and the ASEAN region, so we take it (security) very seriously,” he said to Reuters. Even if he didn’t say which measures they would employ, he confirmed that the facilities are currently using surveillance and intelligence measures, such as meal detectors.
Last week, Ho criticised his former business partner James Packer, CEO of Crown Resorts, for being aggressive when engaging with employees in China despite the ban on gambling marketing, as Financial Times said. Ho said that in the instances where Crown employees were arrested in China suspected of illegal marketing gambling, Packer’s side wasn’t discreet at all.
