US.- Churchill Downs has announced the launch of its TwinSpires online sportsbook and casino in New Jersey. New Jersey becomes the eighth state in which TwinSpires’ sportsbook is available after Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. It’s the third where its igaming offer if available.

Players in New Jersey were offered up to $1,000 in bonus bets and $500 risk-free casino play as sign-up incentives.

Churchill Downs senior vice president and chief technology officer Ben Murr said: “As the official wagering partner of the Kentucky Derby, many sports fans in New Jersey will already be familiar with the TwinSpires brand and its long history with the greatest two minutes in sports.

“We are excited to leverage nearly 150 years of wagering history within the United States to offer New Jerseyans our state-of-the-art online sports betting and igaming products, promotions and offers.”

Churchill Downs reportedly considering sale of TwinSpires

The announcement comes after Churchill Downs was reported to be considering the sale of TwinSpires Racing. Citing an anonymous source, Bloomberg reported that Churchill Downs was working with an adviser in a bid to solicit interest in the online wagering platform, which is the official betting partner of the Kentucky Derby. There’s been no official response from the company but it’s suggested that the unit could sell for $1.5bn.
