Churchill Downs completes acquisition of majority of Casino Salem in New Hampshire
The initial phase of the casino opened in July.
US.- Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has completed its previously announced purchase of a majority of the outstanding interests of Casino Salem in New Hampshire. That includes the right to develop a charitable gaming, entertainment and dining destination.
The initial phase of the casino, located at The Mall at Rockingham Park, opened on July 9, with approximately 100 HRMs and 13 live table games. Over the coming months, CDI plans to begin construction of the project’s future phases, which will include a rebranding of the venue, an expansion of the gaming floor and new food and beverage options.

The acquisition was funded with the company’s existing credit facility.
The New Hampshire Lottery recently reported that sports betting contributed $39m to public education in fiscal year 2025, surpassing the previous record of $37m in 2023. Players placed more than 27m wagers, totalling more than $815m.
According to the lottery, the number of bets and the amount wagered increased nearly 9 per cent from fiscal year 2024, cementing the state’s ranking as third in the country in per capita state revenue from sports betting.
