Choctaw Nation opens new Oklahoma casino
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma has opened its new expanded casino resort in Durant.
US.- The Durant casino and resort has opened to the public after a $600m expansion project. The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma announced its plans in 2018 and began work in April 2019.
Amenities at the new 21-story Sky Tower expansion include 3,300 slot machines, 1,000 new hotel rooms, eleven bars, six restaurants, two Starbucks, and parking space for 3,200 vehicles.
According to tribe officials, the Durant casino and resort is set to generate 1,000 new permanent jobs in southern Oklahoma.
Heidi Grant, executive officer of gaming and hospitality, said the expanded offering provides a modern entertainment destination.
She said: “Every detail is intentional. From the world-class collection of Choctaw art that lines the walls, walkways, and even the ceilings, to modern, luxury hotel rooms and bright and airy spaces throughout the property.
“The Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant is an elevated casino experience that’s close to home.”
The venue had already undergone an expansion back in 2017. With a $50m investment, it added a brand new poker room, as well as the new West Wing tower with 96 rooms.
