China’s lottery experiences significant growth
The country’s sports lottery went through a double digit improvement in 2016.
China.- The Ministry of Finance released the sports lottery figures, where it’s detailed that they experienced a significant growth boosted by the Euro 2016. The results are also a big improvement from 2015, when the sales fell 3.8 percent.
Last year’s sales represent a year-on-year improvement of 7.3 percent, with records of US$57.8 billion. The welfare lottery was the country’s top earner with US$30 billion, a 2.5 percent year-on-year rise, the sports lottery grew 13.1 percent to US$27.3 billion, especially boosted by the European football competition.
The total result from January to October, the Chinese lottery grew 6.7 percent to US$46.7 billion. The Ministry’s report shows that lottery sales were higher in Hunan province mostly, with the largest growth nationwide to US$61.6 million. Shandong, Hubei, Shaanxi and Henan provinces confirmed great results as well. In November, lottery sales grew 12.6 percent year-on-year to US$5 billion, whilst December the sports lottery reported a 11.4 percent growth with US$2.4 billion.
