China reiterates online ticket sales ban

The announcement received support from 11 other government departments in China.

China.- The Ministry of Finance from China released a notice in which it reiterated the ban on online ticket sales for the country’s lottery systems. While the decision was made by mainland authorities back in 2015, they noted that they still haven’t approved any sales.

“In recent years, the related government departments have, in joint operation, rectified several times unauthorised online lottery sales. That has made apparent improvements in the lottery sales market,” reads the announcement posted by Chinese authorities on the Ministry of Finance website.

“But unauthorised online lottery sales via Internet platforms…still happen at times, which seriously impacts the healthy development of lottery business in the country,” the authorities said, as GGRAsia reported. The government also said that there will be sanctions for those who engage in online sales of lottery tickets.
