Century Casinos scores 8th Polish licence
The US casino operator has expanded its presence in Poland and secured its 8th casino licence in the country.
Poland.- The Polish government has awarded US-based casino operator with its 8th casino licence in the country. The company informed the Nasdaq Capital Market that it had received another casino licence, expanding its presence in Poland beyond the seven licences it already owned, which were renewed as well.
The eight permits are divided in Warsaw, three venues, and Wroclaw, Katowice, Bielsko-Biala, Krakow and Lodz the other five. Century Casinos explained there are already six casinos operational and expects the two remaining (one in Warsaw and the Lodz venue) to open next month.
According to co-chief executive officers of Century Casinos Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, the gaming facilities will continue to generate “solid and sustainable returns going forward” as the Polish casino market remains robust. That would be a 180 degree turn from the critical situation the segment experienced after the licencing process was questioned and the industry was temporarily closed.
“As reported previously, the results of the second quarter 2018 will be significantly impacted by the additional costs and expenses associated with the temporary closure of several of the company’s casinos in Poland,” the company further explained.
