Casino winnings up in Louisiana
The state’s 15 gambling facilities generated an 8.5 per cent gain to US$255 million during March.
US.- According to numbers released by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board on Monday, the state’s 15 riverboat casinos, four racinos and land-based Harrah’s casino generated approximately US$255 million in winnings during March’s operations.
The US$255 million represents an 8.5 per cent increase in March when compared to 2017, when the 15 facilities recorded US$234.7 million. Video poker revenue also experienced a 3.7 per cent increase during that period to US$58.6 million, up from the US$50.1 million achieved in 2017.
New Orleans’ gambling revenue was up 10.7 per cent from US$51.2 million to US$56.7 million. Harrah’s casino contributed significantly to the city’s numbers, as it posted US$26.8 million in winnings last month, 23.7 per cent more than the US$21.7 million it collected during the same period in 2017. Winnings at the Fair Grounds race-track were up by 3.7 per cent to US$4.5 million.
On the other hand, Baton Rouge had by far the worst performance of the state’s gambling markets. Hollywood Casino posted a 14.5 per cent revenue fall to US$6.2 million, nearly a million less than it collected in 2017.
