Illinois city officials confident in having a casino
The city officials said that they’re working towards the possibility of featuring a casino in Danville.
US.- Danville city officials are confident that they will soon be able to feature a casino. Illinois recently passed a bill that approves its biggest gambling expansion and Danville believes that it is a strong contestant to win a licence.
Tom Swoik, a former executive at the Illinois Gaming board and current executive director of the Illinois Casino Gaming Association, talked about the Danville market and questioned if it would really bring profits to the state. “If I was a betting man, I think Danville will probably see a casino, but the question is: How lucrative will it be?”
“There are a lot of interesting things in this legislation that will affect Danville and the interest for a casino there,” added Swoik. He said that it would be surprising if all six casinos approved by the Legislature will actually open in the state. “Potentially, maybe one or two don’t open,” said Swoik.
City officials believe that Danville has a strong chance of having a licence due to its proximity to the state line with Indiana. Not only it would attract people from other places in Illinois, but it can potentially attract gamblers from the neighbouring state as well.
