Caesars Virginia seeks rezonification for Virginia casino
Caesars has applied for rezonification of a site at Schoolfield, Danville, in order to open a new casino in the state of Virginia.
US.- A new gaming venue could come to Virginia if the Danville Planning Commission approves a rezonification request from Caesars Virginia.
The potential $400m casino would be built at the former Dan River site at Schoolfield, West Danville. The site is currently listed as a heavy industrial site, but Caesars has applied to have it rezoned.
The application will be discussed at a planning commission meeting this week.
Planning Commission Chairman Harold Garrison said: “I would want to see what’s presented. I try not to make up my mind on anything prior to it coming before us.”
It’s expected that the casino would generate 1,300 full-time positions and a further 900 during construction.
It would host multiple restaurants and bars, a 300-room four star hotel, a 2,500-seat live-entertainment venue, a 35,000-square-foot conference center, a pool and a spa.
The gaming floor would host 2,000 slot machines, 75 table games, 16 poker tables and a sportsbook.
