Caesars eyes Japan casino plans
The Las Vegas-based company is reportedly interested in the Japanese city of Okinawa.
Japan.- Caesars Entertainment is interested in becoming one of the few operators to feature a casino in Japan, which has recently legalised casinos but is still working out the definitive integrated resort (IR) bill. The company has recently said that Okinawa is one of the cities that the company is interested in.
The company revealed its intentions for the upcoming casino market in Japan at a news conference last week, and later talked with Nikkei Asian Review, where the president of international development at Caesars, Steven Tight, confirmed that they are keeping their site options open, with Okinawa as one of the possibilities.
“It would be a fascinating opportunity for us if the governor were to support an integrated resort, because Okinawa would be a tremendous destination for tourism,” said Tight, and added that while the company will work with Japanese partners, it doesn’t require a majority stake as “some of [our] competitors might.”
The company’s president of international development also said that Caesars would like to be in control of decisions in regards to guest experience, but would accept Japanese investors having freedom to address their own objectives.
