The British Gambling Commission has fined two online gaming operators a total of £1.3m for social responsibility failings.

UK.- Two online casinos have been fined by the UK Gambling Commission after investigations revealed social responsibility failures. Rank Group’s Rank Digital Gaming (Alderney) Limited, which runs bellacasino.com, grosvenorcasino.com, meccabingo.com and meccagames.com, will pay a £700,557 regulatory settlement for social responsibility failures.

Annexio (Jersey) Limited, which runs lottogo.com, will pay a £612,000 regulatory settlement for social responsibility and money laundering failures. The payments will go to the National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms.

The investigation into Rank Digital Gaming (Alderney) Limited revealed it failed to comply with the Social Responsibility Code Provision. Annexio (Jersey) failed to implement anti-money laundering (AML) policies, procedures and controls. The regulator also found weaknesses in its reporting arrangements.

Gambling Commission executive director Helen Venn said: “We expect high standards from operators to ensure gambling in Britain is safe and crime-free. Those businesses that fail to meet these standards will find themselves facing costly regulatory action.”
