BGC launches multimedia campaign

BGC has launched a new multimedia campaign that aims to support a previous one launched last month.

UK.- The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has announced the launch of a new multimedia campaign that will support the Safer Gambling Commitments that were introduced in November. The new campaign aims to reinforce safer gambling.

The new campaign will focus on promoting online tools and initiatives to provide punters with options to set limits. It consists of a series of 20-second digital films and associated content and will target men between 18-34.

Brigid Simmonds OBE, Chairman of the Betting and Gaming Council, said: “We set limits on what we do every day and betting and gaming should be no different. Over the festive period with so many important sporting events, if people wish to have a bet it’s important not to lose track of how long you spend or the amount you have staked.”

“Tools are available online and in betting shops and casinos to help you set your time and spend limits and we encourage everyone to use these. For those worried about their betting or gaming, there is the option to self-exclude from gambling entirely and support is available throughout the festive period from the National Gambling helpline 0808 8020 133.”

BGC appointed new CEO

Michael Dugher is the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the BGC. He will start his new role in the spring of 2020 from his current role as CEO of UK Music, the leading body from the music industry in the UK.

Dugher previously served as Member of Parliament for the Barnsley East constituency between 2010 and 2017, during which he held senior positions in the Shadow Cabinet including Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

Michael Dugher said: “The betting and gaming industry is a hugely significant contributor to the leisure industry, to sport and to the UK economy as a whole. I look forward to working with Brigid and the members of the Betting and Gaming Council as we tackle the critical issues facing the sector. Like many millions of people, I enjoy having a bet. Creating a safe gambling environment will be my top priority.”
