BetMGM launches in Indiana

BetMGM has received the full approval to launch its mobile sports betting services in Indiana.

US.- BetMGM has announced that it has secured the approval to launch its mobile sports betting services in Indiana. BetMGM is part of the Roar Digital joint venture between GVC Holdings and MGM Resorts International.

BetMGM had received the temporary vendor licence for the Belterra Casino Resort on January 12. The Indiana Gaming Commission reported that the results from the temporary activity were positive and that they would proceed with the authorisation for a full launch in the state.

Sara Gonso Tait, Executive Director of the Commission, said: “BetMGM has substantially demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Commission that its mobile sports wagering operation meets the requirements of Indiana code article 4-38, the Commission’s emergency regulations and all Commission directives related to sports wagering activities.

“As such and pursuant to BetMGM’s launch date request, I hereby authorise BetMGM to commence mobile sports wagering activities within the state of Indiana on 25 February 2020.”

Sports betting in Indiana

The latest state report revealed local casinos posted US$12 million in revenue in January. The Indiana Gaming Commission published its Summary of Sports Wagering Tax and reported such results.

According to the document, Ameristar Casino’s sportsbook was the most active. The DraftKings operated venue handled US$66 million and posted just over US$6 million revenue.

Blue Chip casino followed with US$49.5 million handle and US$2.8 million revenue. The third sports betting venue in Indiana was the Horseshoe Hammond (US$13.7 million handle, US$1.8 million revenue).
