Betfred snaps up MoPlay database

Betfred has won an auction to take over MoPlay’s customer database and cover what is owned to former users.

UK.- UK gambling company Betfred has won an auction to take over MoPlay’s database and will also refund players left short after the operator went bust.

Users will finally get their funds, which were frozen when the company’s operations were brought to a halt last month after the UK Gambling Commission suspended MoPlay’s licence.

MoPlay had planned to take up its own debt through its parent company, Addison Global. They had up to €144 million in the bank but a major investor withdraw and took €80 million with them.

Betfred has been on the move in the iGaming market as owner Fred Done had recently bought William Hill shares.

Through his company Done Brothers, the businessman bought a 3.03% stake in its rival company.

Mr. Done believes the operator was undervalued as it continued to spread over the US, but still missed a 25% plunge in share value after he purchased stocks.
