Belle Corp confirms Manila expansion plans

The casino investor has plans to expand its City of Dreams Manila project, as vice chairman Willy Ocier had already commented.

Philippines.- Belle Corp confirmed vice chairman Willy Ocier’s comments on its expansion plans for its project in City of Dreams Manila. During a PSE filing from the firm on Wednesday, they corroborated the quotes that the Manila Standard posted on Monday.

“Any matters regarding expansion of City of Dreams Manila are still being explored at this time, and no definite plans have been made as of yet”, said Belle Corp.

Ocier had stated that the company was “looking for neighbouring site or land contiguous with COD. We are open also to joint venture partnership” and added: “We have applied for a second site in line with the fact that our other licensee partners have second sites. We are applying based on the policy of level playing field.”

However, Melco Crown’s subsidiary had backed away from said comments in a previous filing on Tuesday: “We had no prior knowledge of the statement made by Mr. Ocier on behalf of Belle Corp.” They also explained that “the company’s operations are carried out by its own management team and Belle Corporation is not involved in the day to day management of MCP and not authorized to speak on behalf of MCP.”
