BCorp lands lottery contract in Vietnam

The 18 year deal to operate a computerised lottery in the Asian country involves Berjaya Corps subsidiaries for operations purposes.

Vietnam.- Berjaya Corp (BCorp)  has won an exclusive lottery contract in Vietnam. The cost of the project will be US$210.58m and will be funded through internally generated funds or borrowings over the project’s tenure. BCorp announced the project would be launched in Ho Chi Minh City on its early stages and would gradually take over the country in the next five years, adding up to a total of 10,000 terminals.

The project will also involve BCorp’s subsidiary Berjaya Sports Toto (BToto) and Berjaya Gia Thinh Investment Technology Joint Stock Company (Berjaya GTI.) Berjaya GTI is 51 percent owned by Berjaya Lottery Vietnam Ltd, which in turn is 80 percent owned by BCorp and 20 percent by BToto. BCorps’s partner in the project is Vietnam Computerized Lottery One Member Ltd Liability Company (Vietlott), part of Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance, the only enterprise in the country permitted to conduct business in the sector.

The launching of the first game, a Lotto Jackpot game, is expected during the second quarter of 2016 and will be followed by a digit game thereafter.
