Baha Mar to host a soft opening today
The Bahamas casino Baha Mar will be celebrating a soft opening of the definitive casino today.
Bahamas.- After obtaining the gaming license to be able to operate in the Bahamas, Baha Mar will be hosting a soft opening today with new slots machines worth US$20 million. The opening week started on Monday.
As reported by The Bahamas Weekly, today the guests will experience a preview of the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, the casino, the Golf Club and the Arts & Convention Center. Moreover, more than 12 indoor and outdoor restaurants will be open to the public. The US$4.2 billion construction is set to boost tourism all around the island. Graeme Davis, President of the casino, said earlier this week: “This week is all about celebrating the Baha Mar associates in anticipation of our first guests. In two days it will open its doors, thanks to the hard work and dedication from our associates.”
The Tourism Minister Obie Wilchcombe confirmed on the first week of April that the Bahamas Gaming Board granted the documents to Baha Mar to be able to operate after an extensive intestigation. The public meeting where Sky Warrior Bahamas Ltd, a subsidiary of Baha Mar’s Hong Kong owner Chow Tai Fook, exposed its arguments was held on March 31.
