Australia allows gaming expansion
Western Australia approved an immediate implementation of casino permissions at cruise ships.
Australia.- Western Australia State gaming expansion has taken effect today. As reported by onlinecasino.com.au, the state will now allow casino offerings at cruise ships in a move that seeks further investment in the tourism sector.
“Cruise shipping is a vital part of WA’s tourism industry, bringing in millions of dollars to the State’s economy annually and creating jobs,” said Western Australia Tourism, Racing and Gaming Minister Paul Papalia, to the local news outlet.
The new approval ends a long-term ban on the cruise ships casinos in the largest Australian state. Furthermore, the local government plans on adding new regulations and infrastructure plans to boost the international tourism connected to cruise trips.
“Burswood Casino has agreed to the restriction being lifted provided gambling cruises to nowhere could still be prevented. This has been achieved by the new agreement,” added Racing and Gaming Minister Terry Waldron.
As onlinecasino.com.au revealed, cruise ships casinos will be allowed to offer gaming services at least 12 nautical miles from land. Under the new legislations, cruise ships that only operate casino facilities would remain banned.
“The McGowan Government has lifted gaming restrictions and committed to upgrading Fremantle and Geraldton ports and is currently working to resolve other infrastructure issues,” commented Minister Paul Papalia.
