Atlantic City’s numbers show impressive growth
The casino revenue in the past month grew nearly 15 percent in comparison with the same period in 2015.
US.- According to the Casino Control Commission, Atlantic City’s casino revenue rose to almost 15 percent in February year-on-year, consolidating last month as the largest year-over-year percentage increase the gambling hub’s casino industry has posted in more than a decade.
Matthew Levinson chairman of the Casino Control Commission expressed: “Six of the eight casinos were up for the month, five of them double digits.” Levinson believes the spike on gambling was due to pleasant weather, extensive renovations at many of the resorts, reduced intra-city competition after casino closures and the leap year, which added an extra day onto February.
The casinos, including their online operations, won US$204 million last month, which is 14.7 percent more than in February 2015. Brick-and-mortar casino revenue was up 13 percent, whilst Internet gambling revenue increased nearly 42 percent. Both brick-and-mortar casinos and online casinos generated US$394 million in gambling revenue during the first two months of 2016, which is 5 percent more than during the first two months of 2015.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa reported US$62.8 million in February gambling revenue –a year-over-year gain of US$14.2 million or 29.3 percent. Tropicana Atlantic City posted a gambling revenue increase of nearly US$3.1 million or 14 percent growth. Golden Nugget increased its gains in nearly US$2.8 million or 17.5 percent. Bally’s Atlantic City added US$2.7 million or 19.3 percent. Harrah’s Atlantic City saw an increase of US$1.9 million or 7 percent. Finally, Resorts Casino Hotel added US$1.7 million or 16 percent.
