Atlantic City welcomes two new facilities today
Hard Rock Atlantic City and Ocean Resort Casino are scheduled to open their doors this morning.
US.- Atlantic City will today see the opening of two new casinos: Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City and Ocean Resort Casino. While both of them operated in the past under different owners, it is expected that they will help improve the city’s financial status thanks to recent changes.
The former Trump Taj Mahal will reopen as Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City after the property was acquired by the giant last year. The facility features a 60-foot guitar at its entrance, and the company also installed a 30-foot-tall sign in a different location in the city. Hard Rock’s newest casino will open without sports betting for the moment, as the company’s President Matt Harkness told local media: “it’s something we’re taking a very hard look at for the future.”
Ocean Resort Casino executives said that they picked June 28th to open the casino’s doors because they expect it will be a special one for Atlantic City, as it is expected that the two openings will help the city improve its revenues and boost the local industry. Between Hard Rock and Ocean Resort, Atlantic City is expected to recover 6,000 of the 11,000 jobs that were lost since 2014 due to these shutdowns.
The Boardwalk property will offer 138,000 square feet of gaming space featuring 2,200 slot machines and 100 table games. Moreover, the resort adviser Seth Schorr said that sports betting will be in the heart of the casino. Revel Casino cost US$2.4 billion and opened to the public in 2012 before closing in 2014.
“We are going to ensure that customers who don’t get personal attention at other properties get personal attention here,” Ocean Resort CEO Frank Leone told state gaming regulators.
