Wynn Macau launches charitable foundation
The Macau-based company says the foundation already has the approval of the government.
Macau.- Casino operator Wynn Macau has announced it will launch a charitable foundation. It says the Wynn Care Foundation has already been recognised by Macau’s government, with the project being published in the Official Gazette.
The Wynn Care Foundation makes Wynn Macau the first casino operator to establish its own charitable foundation.
All the city’s casino have developed corporate social responsibility initiatives. Sands China, Galaxy Entertainment and SJM Holdings are indirectly related to other charities.
The new charity’s charter states that the Wynn Care Foundation is intended to “promote the prosperous and harmonious development” of Macau.
According to the information in the Official Gazette, the foundation will promote education projects among young people, and provide support to small- and medium-sized enterprises and young entrepreneurs.
It will foster volunteering, charitable and community activities, environment protection and sustainable development, and events related to sports, leisure or culture.
Wynn Macau Ltd is funding the foundation with an initial MOP10-million (US$1.25 million) donation.
The charity’s first president is Linda Chen Chih Ling, Wynn Macau’s vice chairman and chief operating officer.
