South Korea.- Casino resort Kangwon Land has announced it has closed again following a government order due to a rise in Covid-19 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Korea recorded more than 2,200 new Covid-19 cases over a nine-day period up to Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kangwon Land is the only casino resort in South Korea where local people are allowed to gamble. The gaming area will be closed until at least August 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The final reopening date will be decided following advice from health authorities, and may be put back if the situation is judged to remain critical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company expects a revenue loss of about KRW7.5 billion (US$6.3 million) based on daily average casino sales during the first half of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kangwon Land first closed in late February due to the spread of Covid-19 infections in South Korea. It resumed some casino operations\u00a0for VIP areas in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
