{"id":8653,"date":"2020-08-03T21:29:14","date_gmt":"2020-08-03T21:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=8653"},"modified":"2026-04-24T03:06:59","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T06:06:59","slug":"manila-goes-into-stricter-quarantine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/manila-goes-into-stricter-quarantine","title":{"rendered":"Manila goes into stricter quarantine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Metro Manila&#8217;s largest casinos have been closed since March and have no hope of reopening before at least mid-August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Philippines.- President Rodrigo Duterte has placed Metro Manila under a stricter level of quarantine until August 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week Duterte had announced that the general community quarantine (GCQ) level of alert for Metro Manila would be renewed on August 1 and that the government was planning a <strong><em><a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/metro-manila-to-enforce-stricter-localised-lockdowns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new scheme with localised lockdowns<\/a><\/em><\/strong> to control Covid-19 outbreaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But after the country surpassed the 100,000 mark of positive Covid-19 cases, the government decided to tighten measures further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now Metro Manila will go back to the previous stage of &#8220;modified enhanced community quarantine&#8221; (MECQ), which means stay-at-home orders, with quarantine passes required to circulate.
