{"id":8631,"date":"2020-08-03T09:43:57","date_gmt":"2020-08-03T09:43:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=8631"},"modified":"2026-04-24T03:08:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T06:08:12","slug":"macau-ggr-up-in-july-after-a-drop-in-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-up-in-july-after-a-drop-in-june","title":{"rendered":"Macau GGR recovers slightly in July"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Gross gaming revenue in Macau for July remained down 94.5 per cent year-on-year but climbed 87.7 per cent on June&#8217;s total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- According to the figures revealed by the <strong><em>Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau<\/em><\/strong>, gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau for July was MOP1.34 billion (US$168.4 million). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s down 94.5 per cent year-on-year but up 87.7 per cent on June, which saw GGR of MOP716 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The growth compared to the previous month comes after the easing of border measures with the neighbouring Chinese mainland province of Guangdong. Analysts have been promoting the importance of loosening restrictions to boost Macau&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s been a bumpy ride so far. May&#8217;s GGR was up 134 per cent on a dire April, but still down 93.2 per cent year-on-year. In June revenue was down again, and down 97&nbsp;per cent year-on-year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first seven months of 2020,&nbsp;GGR stood at MOP35.06 billion, down 79.8 per cent from the same period in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mainland authorities have not yet restarted the visa systems most commonly used for mainlanders to visit Macau.
