The third quarter of the year has brought a 27.7% increase in gambling to \u20ac346 million revenues, the regulator from France revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

France.- Gambling in France has experienced an impressive third quarter, as total revenue rose 27.7% year-on-year to \u20ac346 million. These results come despite being compared to a period in 2018 where France won the men\u2019s World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sports betting was the most important vertical in the third quarter, as handle increased 9% to \u20ac1.08 billion in the three-month period. This figure is particularly impressive as the third quarter of 2018 featured the men\u2019s World Cup, won by France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revenue from sports betting totalled \u20ac214 million, a 43.6% increase from the previous year. Half of the betting handle came from football, which brought in \u20ac553 million, although the figure is a 12% year-on-year setback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poker was another segment with good figures in the three-month period. The modality posted its second consecutive quarter of increase and revenue was \u20ac21 million. ARJEL said that tournament rake rose to \u20ac45 million during that period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second-quarter results<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

ARJEL<\/em><\/strong>, France\u2019s gambling regulator, showed that\u00a0online gambling hit \u20ac343 million<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in the three-month period ended June 30. This represents a 13.5% increase from the same period last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gambling regulator reported that all verticals increased revenues in the second quarter of the year. Despite the 13.5% year-on-year improvement, the second-quarter figures are down by \u20ac14 million when compared to those registered in the first quarter of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The online sports betting operators reported \u20ac1.2 billion in turnover, which represents a 20% increase, while they registered \u20ac214 million in revenue and an 18% rise. Online poker revenue also reported a 5% gain year-on-year to \u20ac63 million, despite the fact that this figure was down \u20ac5 million from the first quarter\u2019s total.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
