Macau says Hong Kong’s extension of 14-day quarantine measures until August 7 has not stopped negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The SAR government has confirmed negotiations with officials from Hong Kong over the relaxation of borders restrictions are still ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hong Kong has extended <\/a><\/em><\/strong>the 14-day quarantine requirement for visitors arriving from mainland China, Macau and Taiwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This decision as Macau, Hong Kong and Guangdong province were designing a health code<\/a><\/em><\/strong> to allow travellers to move more freely in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IAG reports that officials of the Macau SAR government have denied that the extension of quarantine measures means an end to negotiations and that they are still ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Macau Daily, Dr. Alvis Lo Iek Long, a clinical director of the public Conde S. Janu\u00e1rio Hospital Centre, said at a press conference on Wednesday that travel restrictions in the area should remain in place until a vaccine is developed against Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said visitors should be allowed to move freely in the region without presenting a nucleic acid test, only once a vaccine is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casinos and hotels in the area are desperately waiting for the easing of restrictions in order to recover from the economic impact. Experts have said that even nearby tourism<\/a><\/em><\/strong> could aid recovery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
