Macau.- Macau casinos that rely on traditional mass-market gamblers could face long-term competitive disadvantages if demand from that segment remains weak, Truist Securities<\/strong> analysts Barry Jonas<\/strong> and Jeremy Jacoby<\/strong> have warned. In an assessment published ahead of Macau casino operators\u2019 third-quarter earnings announcements, they say some properties face product-related challenges because their facilities were designed primarily to serve base mass-market players rather than higher-spending customers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The analysis raises the possibility that a recovery in Macau\u2019s overall gaming revenue may not benefit all operators equally if their properties are not aligned with current customer demand. Jonas and Jacoby did not identify the casinos or operators that could face the long-term structural risks. However, they specifically excluded MGM China and Wynn Macau from this concern, citing their established premium mass-market operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau’s casinos generated MOP60.22bn (US$7.46bn) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the third quarter of 2026, down 3.8 per cent year-on-year. Revenue from mass baccarat fell 7.9 per cent to MOP33.61bn, while VIP baccarat revenue edged up 0.1 per cent to MOP16.91bn, according to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
