The Philippine gaming regulator has signed agreements with 66 local government units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) will work with the Department of Education (DepEd)<\/strong> and 66 local government units (LGUs) to advance a nationwide programme aimed at building additional classrooms across the Philippines. The agreements were formalised today during a ceremonial memorandum of agreement signing at PAGCOR\u2019s corporate office in Pasay City, attended by PAGCOR chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco<\/strong>, Education Secretary Juan Edgardo \u201cSonny\u201d Angara and representatives from the participating LGUs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme will build three-storey school buildings <\/strong>each with 12 classrooms<\/strong> equipped with chairs, tables, electric fans and facilities designed to accommodate persons with disabilities. The buildings will also include 75-inch smart TVs, amplifiers and microphones, as well as a one-year free internet subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agency hopes to complete the buildings by 2027 or 2028<\/strong>, particularly in communities facing the most pressing need for additional classrooms. \u201cThrough these classrooms, we hope to give the younger generation a better learning environment, a chance to discover what they are truly capable of, and a chance to build a brighter future,\u201d Tengco said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school-building programme follows PAGCOR\u2019s allocation of an initial PHP 1.37bn (US$22.8m) in March 2026 for the construction of 25 public school buildings<\/a> nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
