DSEC figures show games of chance generated 98.3 per cent of Macau\u2019s gaming sector receipts in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The gaming industry in Macau increased its gross surplus by 9.3 per cent in 2025 as sector receipts grew faster than expenditure. That’s according to data released by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC)<\/strong> on September 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gross surplus before taxes reached MOP156.47bn (US$19.38bn), compared with MOP143.12bn (US$17.73bn) in 2024. The surplus ratio was up from 62.7 per cent to 62.9 per cent. Receipts rose 8.8 per cent year-on-year to MOP251.75bn (US$31.18bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Games of chance remained the main source of revenue, generating MOP247.40bn (US$30.64bn), or 98.3 per cent of total receipts. Meanwhile, the sector\u2019s expenditure increased by 7.5 per cent to MOP101.44bn (US$12.56bn). Operating expenses were the largest item at MOP43.72bn (US$5.42bn), up 7.7 per cent from the previous year. Some 62.6 per cent went towards complimentary goods and services provided to customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spending on purchases of goods, commissions and customer rebates recorded the fastest growth among the main expenditure categories, increasing 11.6 per cent to MOP25.88bn (US$3.21bn). Hotel accommodation made up 32.4 per cent of this category, while food and beverages accounted for 20.3 per cent. Employee pay rose 6.0 per cent to MOP22.77bn (US$2.82bn). The sector employed 53,075 full-time workers in 2025, a marginal increase from 52,971 in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n
