The Philippine gaming regulator said AI could strengthen fraud detection and compliance but could also give bad actors new ways to evade controls<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR)<\/strong> has stressed the importance of adapting the regulation of gaming in the Philippines to keep up with artificial intelligence. In a keynote speech at the CiG iDEA Summit in Pasay City, Jessa Mariz Fernandez<\/strong>, assistant vice president of PAGCOR\u2019s Electronic Gaming Licensing Department, said AI could help regulators detect fraud, identify unusual activity, strengthen compliance and improve efficiency but warned that the technology could also allow more sophisticated forms of fraud that are harder for regulators to identify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fernandez said PAGCOR is reviewing its policies and engaging with industry stakeholders as it assesses how regulation should respond to the technological changes. The regulator is also strengthening coordination with other government agencies and considering new approaches to address increasingly complex risks in the gaming sector, she said, stressing that regulation should support innovation while maintaining consumer protection, market integrity and transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summit is part of the week-long Inside Asian Gaming Expo, which brings together gaming industry stakeholders for discussions, leadership meetings and networking. The event was also attended by PAGCOR president and chief operating officer Wilma Eisma<\/strong> and senior vice president for land-based operations sector Daniel Cecilio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
