Average monthly earnings for full-time gaming employees increased year-on-year, while the sector\u2019s workforce dropped slightly in the second quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC)<\/strong> has reported that the average monthly earnings for full-time employees in Macau\u2019s gaming sector rose 4.6 per cent year-on-year to MOP28,660 (US$3,580) in June. The figure, which excludes irregular remuneration, is a rise from MOP27,390 in June 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The data in the government\u2019s Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages<\/strong> for the second quarter of 2026 shows that the number of people working in Macau\u2019s gaming sector stood at 52,992 at the end of the second quarter, down 0.3 per cent year-on-year<\/strong>. The workforce included 52,772 full-time employees, of which 44.5 per cent were <\/strong>dealers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Average monthly earnings increased 1.5 per cent year-on-year to MOP22,130 (US$2,770) in June. The average earnings for full-time resident gaming employees rose 4.2 per cent year-on-year to MOP28,500 (US$3,560). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sector\u2019s employee recruitment rate stood at 1.1 per cent in the second quarter, unchanged from a year earlier, while the turnover rate increased by 0.2 percentage points to 1.8 per cent. The job vacancy rate remained at 0.4 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DSEC data also showed that 94.8 per cent of full-time gaming employees worked shifts, and 79.3 per cent were employed by establishments with at least 5,000 workers. Of the available gaming positions, 65.4 per cent required previous work experience. Mandarin proficiency was required for 91.7 per cent of vacancies, while 64.5 per cent required English.<\/p>\n\n\n
