It was the country\u2019s largest casino contributor to public funds, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the latest data from the National Gambling Control Commission, Kangwon Land generated KRW14.317tn (US$10.33bn) in turnover during the year and recorded 2.4 million visitors. Its public payments comprised KRW248.6bn (US$179.4m) in taxes and KRW354.7bn (US$255.9m) in fund contributions. National taxes accounted for KRW226.9bn (US$163.7m), while local taxes amounted to KRW21.7bn (US$15.7m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kangwon Land\u2019s total payments were substantially higher than those made by South Korea\u2019s 17 foreigner-only casinos. The segment generated KRW22.638tn (US$16.33bn) in turnover but paid KRW367.1bn (US$264.9m) in combined taxes and fund contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The foreigner-only casinos contributed KRW117bn (US$84.4m) in national taxes, KRW30.6bn (US$22.1m) in local taxes and KRW219.5bn (US$158.4m) to funds. Kangwon Land\u2019s tax contribution rate stood at 17.4 per cent of gross gambling yield, while its fund contribution rate was 24.8 per cent. For foreigner-only casinos, the corresponding rates were 6.5 per cent and 9.7 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Across South Korea\u2019s regulated gambling industry, total turnover reached KRW260.273tn (US$187.8bn) in 2025. Sports Toto generated the largest turnover at KRW76.589tn (US$55.3bn), followed by bicycle racing at KRW64.240tn (US$46.4bn) and horse racing at KRW22.638tn (US$16.3bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Total gross gambling yield across the sectors stood at KRW118.612tn (US$85.6bn).
