Meanwhile, net income was PHP6.98bn (US$122.4m), up 124 per cent, primarily due to a fair value gain from its investment in <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/international-entertainment-completes-final-us102m-convertible-notes-issuance-to-digiplus\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/international-entertainment-completes-final-us102m-convertible-notes-issuance-to-digiplus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Entertainment Corporation&#8217;s (IEC)<\/a> convertible notes. Excluding this non-operating gain, core <strong>net income was PHP2.35bn (US$41.2m)<\/strong>, an 8 per cent increase from the previous quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>EBITDA rose 7 per cent <\/strong>quarter-on-quarter to PHP2.84bn (US$49.8m), while the EBITDA margin improved to 18.2 per cent, compared with 15.3 per cent in the first quarter. The company cited disciplined cost management and greater operating efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">User activity continued to rise with aggregate monthly active users (MAU) averaging 5.75 million. Monthly average bettors and depositors (MABD) increased 26 per cent quarter-on-quarter to 4.68 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">N<strong>et gaming revenue (NGR)<\/strong> after tax increased 0.9 per cent to PHP5.52bn (US$96.8m), with the margin reaching 35 per cent. The company said the result reflects improved returns on advertising and promotional spending, as well as lower tax costs following the IEC transaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/digiplus-appoints-ping-chen-as-new-president\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/digiplus-appoints-ping-chen-as-new-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ping Chen<\/a>, DigiPlus&#8217;s president, said: \u201cAs our business evolves, we believe the MAU base and the MABD growth reflects the market share of our platforms, our strength in product development, and the overall quality of our Gaming-as-a-Service strategy.
