Analysts expect gross gaming revenue to return to year-on-year growth in August, with a stronger acceleration expected in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Seaport Research Partners<\/strong> expects Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR) to return to growth in August and gain further momentum in September, as demand recovers after the temporary slowdown caused by the FIFA World Cup 2026<\/strong>. The latest research note comes after Macau reported July GGR of MOP20.26bn (US$2.51bn)<\/a>, down 8.4 per cent year-on-year but up 9.4 per cent from June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seaport said business activity improved during the second half of July following the conclusion of the World Cup on July 19. The recovery was, however, slightly affected by Typhoon Noul during the final weekend of the month. Senior analyst Vitaly Umansky<\/strong> forecasts that August GGR will increase by 4.5 per cent<\/strong> year-on-year and September GGR by 11 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seaport expects Macau\u2019s GGR to grow by 1.8 per cent year-on-year in the third quarter and by 3.2 per cent in the fourth quarter, supported by improving demand and the return of normal travel patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s expanded World Cup schedule<\/a> was expected to reduce visitation and gaming in Macau, particularly among premium mass and VIP customers. Gaming agent activity also softened during the tournament, although volumes improved once the competition ended.
