South Korea.- Kangwon Land, the operator of South Korea\u2019s only casino open to local residents, has announced the opening of Blue Sky,<\/strong> a new infinity pool at its High1 Resort<\/strong>. The addition is intended to expand its non-gaming offerings and strengthen the resort’s appeal as a year-round destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located on the seventh floor of the Grand Hotel Convention Tower, the facility began operations on Friday with four daily sessions. It offers panoramic views of the Baekdudaegan mountain range from 800 metres above sea level. As well as the infinity pool, there’s a toddler pool and a spa area designed for families, couples and groups of visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kangwon Land acting CEO Nam Han-gyu<\/strong> attended the opening ceremony. \u201cBlue Sky is a new landmark that best captures High1 Resort\u2019s defining strengths \u2014 its pristine natural environment and its highland setting 800 metres above sea level,\u201d he told The Herald Business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Kangwon Land announced plans to invest around KRW200bn (US$135.4m) in a major renovation<\/a> of accommodation. It aims for completion ahead of the opening of a second casino venue<\/a> in 2028. According to a company statement, the refurbishment programme will cover 757 hotel and condominium units, around 41 per cent of the resort\u2019s 1,827 accommodation units. Work is expected to begin in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project forms part of Kangwon Land\u2019s long-termK-HIT 1.0 development strategy<\/strong>, a multi-year plan running through 2035 that aims to modernise the resort and expand its tourism offering. A second casino building is expected to open in early 2028, adding additional gaming tables and machines<\/a> to the resort\u2019s inventory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
