Cambodia.- Authorities have now shut down at least 72 licensed casinos<\/strong> in Cambodia as part of the ongoing nationwide campaign targeting online scam operations<\/a>. According to a government report obtained by Cambodia China Times, authorities inspected 195 licensed casinos<\/strong> between July 2025 and June 30, 2026 and 72 venues ceased operations following investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the affected properties, 19 had their gaming licences revoked due to alleged involvement in online fraud activities, while 30 had their licences suspended and 23 discontinued operations after their licences expired, the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The casino closures form part of an anti-scam initiative<\/a> over the past year. Cambodia China Times reported that officials have investigated 665 locations suspected of links to online fraud, identifying 582 active criminal sites and 83 suspected hideouts. Some 537 locations have been shut down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Government figures cited by Xinhua indicated that authorities carried out raids on 737 suspected online scam centres between June 2025 and June 2026. The crackdown has also reportedly led to the deportation of 21,102 foreign nationals from 38 countries and the referral of 268 cases involving 2,773 suspects to the judicial system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cambodian gaming regulator is preparing to launch nationwide casino compliance evaluations<\/a> in a bid to strengthen oversight of the country\u2019s commercial gambling industry. The Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia (CGMC) said officials met on July 20 to review preparations for the inspections.<\/p>\n\n\n
