The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre said online gambling fund flows fell 20 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Indonesia.- New data released by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) suggests that Indonesia last year experienced the the first annual decline in the value of online gambling transactions since 2017. The agency said online gambling fund flows in 2025 totalled IDR286.84tn (US$16bn), down 20 per cent from IDR359.81tn (US$20.1bn) in 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PPATK reported that deposit values decreased from IDR51.3tn (US$2.9bn) to IDR36.01tn (US$2bn). As for the first quarter of 2026, online gambling transactions totalled IDR40.3tn (US$2.2bn), with deposits reaching IDR10.6tn (US$519m). The findings relate to specific suspicious cases and do not apply to the financial services sector as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

QRIS accounted for 88.6 per cent of deposit transactions in the first quarter of 2026, compared with 78.5 per cent throughout 2025, while the share of bank transfers declined. PPATK said operators increasingly rely on smaller and more frequent payments. It also said criminal networks are using shell companies, fake merchants, merchant aggregators and financial technology services to conceal gambling-related transactions. <\/p>\n\n\n
