Oman.- Sourabh Chandrakar<\/strong>, the alleged cofounder of the Mahadev online betting app has been detained in Oman. Indian authorities are seeking his extradition in connection with the alleged \u20b96,000 crore (US$62.9m) illegal gambling operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Indian media, Chandrakar was taken into custody by the Royal Oman Police <\/strong>following an Interpol Red Notice <\/strong>issued at the request of the Enforcement<\/strong> Directorate (ED) <\/strong>and Chhattisgarh Police<\/strong>. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)<\/strong> has since submitted an extradition request through India\u2019s Ministry of External Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Officials said Chandrakar is being held in Muscat<\/strong> while Omani authorities consider India\u2019s request. He is reportedly facing a separate investigation in Oman over allegations that he entered the country using a forged passport from a Southeast Asian nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chandrakar, who has been wanted by Indian authorities since 2019, is accused of establishing the Mahadev online betting network with co-founder Ravi Uppal<\/strong> before the pair relocated to Dubai. Investigators allege that he continued to manage operations from overseas through multiple online betting platforms, including Tiger Exchange<\/strong>, Gold365<\/strong> and Laser247<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The ED alleges the network operated around 3,200 betting panels in India, generating proceeds of around \u20b96,000 crore (US$62.9m). The ED has so far arrested 13 people and named 74 entities in five charge sheets filed before a special court in Raipur. In March, the agency announced the freezing of assets worth \u20b91,700 crore (US$202.6m) allegedly linked to Chandrakar and associates, including properties in Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chandrakar was briefly detained in Dubai in 2024 under an Interpol Red Notice, but India\u2019s extradition request was not executed and he was later released.
