That&#8217;s 8.7 per cent increase from 1,856 reports in the same period last year, according to figures released by the  Unitary Police Service&#8217;s <strong>Financial Intelligence Office (GIF)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gaming sector remained the largest source of suspicious transaction reports, accounting for 73.3 per cent of the <strong>total 2,753 STRs received<\/strong> between January and June and driving an overall rise of 9.5 per cent in the number of reports filed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Financial institutions and insurance companies filed 526 reports during the six-month period, up from 500 reports a year earlier and representing 19.1 per cent of the total. Other institutions submitted 209 reports, up from 159, to account for the remaining 7.6 per cent.
