The woman admitted the charge before the Magistrates\u2019 Court after being arrested during an <strong>Op Soga enforcement operation<\/strong> on June 18 at a business premises in City Square, Pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigators said she was processing wagers for an unlicensed online bookmaker. Officers confiscated a smartphone, a portable printer, betting slips, a receipt stamp and RM725 believed to be connected to the gambling operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The woman was convicted under Section 4A(a) of the <strong>Common Gaming Houses Act 1953<\/strong>, which provides for fines ranging from RM20,000 (US$4,892) to RM200,000 (US$48,928) and a maximum prison sentence of five years. The court also ordered a further six months\u2019 imprisonment if the fine is not paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The woman also pleaded guilty in a separate immigration case after authorities found she had entered Malaysia without valid travel documents.
