Australia.- The University of Tasmania has launched a new research project examining gambling experiences across Tasmania in partnership with Auckland University of Technology. Funded by the Tasmanian Government’s Department of Premier and Cabinet, the study aims to gather insights from people with lived and professional experience to support future research and policy development.

The project is open to adults aged 18 and over who currently gamble or have done so in the past, people who live with or support someone affected by gambling, and professionals working with individuals experiencing gambling-related issues. All forms of gambling are included except lotteries.

Researchers said they are interested in the full spectrum of gambling experiences, from recreational play through to cases where gambling has had a negative impact. Participants will take part through interviews or focus groups held across Tasmania. Registration is via an online survey. The research team said the findings will help strengthen the understanding of gambling experiences within the Tasmanian community and ensure local perspectives are reflected in future policy discussions.
