Ed Bowers participated in discussions on bilateral economic cooperation as the development of MGM Osaka continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Japan.- MGM Resorts Japan president and CEO Ed Bowers joined a delegation from the US-Japan Business Council on a courtesy visit to Japan’s chief cabinet secretary Minoru Kihara in Tokyo yesterday (June 25). Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Senior US executives and Japanese officials reportedly discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, investment and regional partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation was led by David Goeckeler, chairman and CEO of SanDisk and chairman of the US-Japan Business Council, and included executives from companies such as Chevron, Citi, Kyndryl, Zimmer Biomet, General Atomics Global Corporation and the US Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bowers’ participation comes amid the development of MGM Osaka<\/a>, Japan’s first integrated resort with a casino. The project is currently under construction on Yumeshima Island in Osaka prefecture. MGM Resorts and Orix each hold a 40 per cent stake in the development, which involves an estimated investment of around US$10bn. It’s slated for a 2030 opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kihara highlighted the important role played by the business communities in deepening Japan-US economic relations and expressed appreciation for the US-Japan Business Council’s policy recommendations on promoting bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
