The integrated resort operator has joined the GSTC membership programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- SJM Resorts has become the first Macau-based organisation to join the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)<\/strong>, and international body that manages sustainability standards for the travel and tourism industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company said the move builds on a series of sustainability initiatives already implemented, incluiding Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau becaming the first resort in Macau to obtain ISO 20121:2024 certification for its Event Sustainability Management System back in 2024. It said GSTC membership would aid its efforts to continue implementing sustainability measures throughout its portfolio, including energy-efficiency programmes, water conservation initiatives and efforts to reduce plastic consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daisy Ho<\/strong>, chairman and executive director of SJM Holdings and managing director of SJM Resorts, said: \u201cSJM has been deeply rooted in Macau for over 60 years, and our commitment to a greener future remains steadfast. Becoming the first GSTC member in Macau marks a natural progression of our journey. We will continue to advance sustainability and support Macau\u2019s development as a leading destination for responsible tourism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GSTC chief executive officer Randy Durband<\/strong> said: \u201cGSTC warmly welcomes SJM Resorts as a GSTC member organisation. We thank them for joining our mission to advance more responsible, inclusive, and sustainable tourism through their diverse business portfolio across hospitality, MICE, and Attraction sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
