The Chinese and Myanmar leaders pledged closer cooperation against cross-border gambling, online scams and other criminal activities affecting the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

China.- Chinese president Xi Jinping<\/strong> has urged Myanmar to continue strengthening its efforts against illegal online gambling<\/strong>, highlighting the issue during a meeting with Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing<\/strong> in Beijing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Min Aung Hlaing said Myanmar would work closely with China to crack down on online gambling operations while enhancing security along the countries\u2019 shared border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions are a result of China’s ongoing campaign against cross-border gambling and online scam networks that target Chinese citizens<\/strong>. Beijing has repeatedly warned about the risks associated with overseas gambling activities, including fraud, money laundering, human trafficking and other forms of organised crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, Chinese authorities have expanded cooperation with neighbouring countries to combat illegal gambling, telecommunications fraud and related criminal activities across Asia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest commitment from Myanmar comes as China continues to increase pressure on regional governments<\/a> to dismantle illegal gambling and scam compounds operating in border areas, which have become a major focus of Beijing\u2019s law enforcement and diplomatic agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n
